SFR Brigade Showcase: Portals #SFRB #SciFi #Romance

Welcome to August's SFR Brigade Showcase! Here you'll find new releases, recommended reads, and fun topics. Everyone participating in this month's showcase can be found here: SFR Brigade Showcase. Go check out their posts too. :)

I am sure many, if not most, of you have heard of the SFR Brigade's Portals project. It started off with four volumes, the first of which was published in May. Each volume contains ten first chapters of great science fiction romance from forty sci-fi romance authors.

What you may not know is that the project was so well received that three more volumes were added! Volume Five was published at the end of July and Volume Six will be released this month. Volume Seven includes story starts from twelve authors (releasing in September), so all together the Portals project involves 70 authors and 72 different science fiction romance first chapters.

The idea behind this great effort is for old and new readers of the genre to find science fiction romance stories all in one place. The reader can read the first chapters of any or all of these stories and decide if he/she wants to buy the full book. Did I say it is all science fiction romance all in one easy place? This is what I love so much about this project; that I know it's SFR and that it tells me where to find it. Yes!

For awhile at least, as I go through all 72 of these wonderful books, I won't have to peruse the Paranormal aisle trying to interpret which of those stories are actually Science Fiction Romance. Thank goodness Amazon does have a SFR category, but even that gets muddled sometimes, as some titles don't end up there and some Paranormal romance gets through. I don't want to read Paranormal romance; I want to read Science Fiction romance! I know I'm not the only person with this problem.

The person on the cover is the Portal Keeper, Sender Najan. At first, each volume was to contain like heat levels. Example: Volume One is considered Medium heat level. Volume Two is considered Hot. Volume Three is Mild. When it came to the last four volumes, the heat level is considered an "all-encompassing romantic blend." I honestly don't care what the heat level is, just as long as it's SFR.

Portals: Volumes One through Five are available on all ebook retailers. You can find links to your favorite retailer for all volumes on the Portals website here: http://sfrportals.blogspot.com/. (See links under each book cover at the right of the page).

Portals: Volume Four and Portals: Volume Five are included in the popular Patty Jansen Promo that is going on right now too: http://pattyjansen.com/promo/. This promo runs August 6-7 and includes FREE books. The Portals volumes will always be free, but there are some great SFR books that you can grab while they're free too!

Happy reading!

    1. Are you on the SFRB Facebook group? There were some announcements in there on joining the Portals Facebook group, but I know I miss a lot that's posted there. Ask to be a part of the Portals group and as more ideas come up for the future of the project, you will be informed and can decide how to get involved from there. 1. I was wondering if it'd been showcased already, but realized that maybe the last 3 volumes haven't been. Couldn't hurt to showcase it again. I am thrilled with the efforts of Pauline and Laurie and you and Elizabeth Munro and Pippa Jay and the other uploaders. Such a great collaborative effort! I hope it helps propel SFR forward. :)
